About the event
Keum–boo is a very old gilding technique, originating from Korea, that is used to apply a very thin sheet of 24 carat gold onto the surface of your silver jewellery. Across 2 sessions you will create a pendant and earrings set, made from fine silver and decorated with 24 carat gold accents. During session one (3rd Nov) you will cut your silver clay pieces to shape and sand to a smooth finish, this will form the base of your pendant and earrings. You will then fire your silver clay and watch it transform to solid silver. During session 2 (10th Nov)you will cut 24 carat gold accent pieces and attach them to your jewellery using a hotplate. You may then choose to dome your pieces or keep them flat before polishing. Finally, you will solder on earring posts and attach a jump ring to the pendant
