Make your own pendant and earring set from fine silver and 24 carat gold embellishments. Keum–boo is a very old gilding technique, originating from Korea, that is used to apply a very thin sheet of 24 carat gold onto the surface of your silver jewellery.

About the event
What you will make: During this jewellery making class you will create a pendant and stud earring set, exquisitely decorated with 24 carat gold accents. Included within this class you will receive a 7g pack of silver clay, a small sheet of 24 carat gold, sterling silver earring posts with scroll backs and a silver jump ring. If you require a chain, these are available to purchase on the day for an additional £5, where you can try on your favourite style and length
What you will learn: You will be introduced to all tools and equipment as we use them, where I will explain about each stage as we go. I will show you how to roll and shape your silver clay, drying processes, sanding and refining the clay before firing with a small blow torch. You will then design and apply your 24-carat gold embellishments using a hotplate and agate burnisher. Once secured you will learn to dome your jewellery for added aesthetic or you may choose to keep it flat. You will then learn to solder on earring posts before finishing your jewellery to a mirror shine finish
Health and Safety: When attending jewellery classes, please ensure you are appropriately dressed, we will be working with an open flame so no open toe shoes or loose sleeves please and also ensure long hair is tied back. If you wear glasses please bring them, some parts of the workshop require close examination of your jewellery.
